2026 Aston Martin Vantage
While most manufacturers toil in a perpetual cycle of new-model creation, Aston Martin traditionally moves at a pace befitting a producer of limited-edition, hand-hewn classics. Count us impressed, then, with the arrival of the 2026 Aston Martin Vantage roadster. Appearing hot on the heels—for Aston, anyway—of the revised-for-2025 Vantage coupe, this soft-top convertible ramps up the hedonism factor significantly. The coupe and roadster ply the same turf, offering a powerful and exclusive alternative for drivers who find the similarly-priced Porsche 911 Turbo and the Mercedes-AMG GT63 too pedestrian. A stomping 656-horsepower twin-turbo V-8 provides motivation for both versions; alas, a manual transmission is no longer available. Aston is proud that the roadster’s attendant top-dropping mechanicals add only a claimed 132 pounds. The company has reworked the suspension and the structure to offset the increase. While the decision to go alfresco in the roadster or remain cocooned in the steely confines of the coupe is up to you, there’s no escaping the Vantage’s visceral appeal and the near transcendent experience served up by its capable front-engine rear-drive chassis—all accompanied by one of the most seductive exhaust notes extant.
What’s New for 2026?
2026 sees the debut of the Vantage roadster. Aston says the roof’s “Z-fold” configuration is both faster and lighter than a traditional roof, requiring just 6.8 seconds to fully open or close, making it the fastest fully automatic deployable roof mechanism on the market today. It can be operated at speeds up to 31 mph and incorporates eight levels of insulation to keep interior noise levels comparable to the coupe’s.
Pricing and Which One to Buy
The price of the 2026 Aston Martin Vantage is expected to start around $195,000 and go up to $200,000 depending on the trim and options.
While the coupe’s rakish good looks are undeniable, the idea of a powerful British roadster has a classic appeal. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2025.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
The Vantage coupe and Vantage roadster share a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 with Mercedes-AMG DNA. For 2025, the engine was significantly reworked with new turbos, revised cam profiles, an optimized compression ratio, and improved cooling. Output now sits at 656 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque, an increase of 128 horsepower and 85 pound-feet over the prior engine in the Vantage F1 edition, previously the most powerful Vantage variant. Power is transmitted to the rear axle via an eight-speed automatic transmission. Both coupe and roadster benefit from a 7 percent stiffer chassis, revised adaptive dampers, and other tweaks including new Michelin Pilot Sport 5S tires. In our initial test drive, we enjoyed the Vantage coupe’s lively feel, as its communicative brake pedal, accurate steering, and neutral character —which together make it a joy to drive. The upgraded V-8 engine provides serious grunt, and the transmission is an excellent companion. We also drove the convertible and found it to offer the same driving experience with a bit of extra glamour baked in.
In our testing, the 2025 Vantage got to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds, a few ticks quicker than the previous F1 Edition model managed in the same test. Aston’s official claim for the roadster is the same 3.5 seconds as the coupe; we expect to better that as we did with the coupe when we get one for testing. Top speed for both is a claimed 202 mph.
The EPA rates the Vantage’s fuel economy at 15 mpg city, 22 mpg highway, and 18 mpg combined. We haven’t yet had a chance to run it in either coupe or convertible form on our real-world 75-mph highway fuel economy test, but we’ll update this page when we do.
