2026 Aston Martin Vanquish Volante Revealed as Droptop Flagship
It’s got the same 823-horsepower 5.2-liter twin-turbo V-12 as its coupe sibling, making it the most powerful production Aston convertible ever.
The 2026 Aston Martin Vanquish Volante has been revealed with the same 823-hp twin-turbo V-12 and achingly beautiful design as the coupe that was rolled out last year.
Aston claims the Volante is good for up to 214 mph, making it the fastest series production convertible Aston Martin has ever made.
Between the coupe and the Volante, Aston Martin plans to limit Vanquish production to fewer than 1000 units per year.
After taking a sabbatical that lasted roughly six years, the Aston Martin Vanquish returned as Aston’s flagship model for the 2025 model year. Now, six months after the Vanquish coupe broke cover, Aston Martin has pulled back the cover on the 2026 Vanquish Volante.
As one of the flagship luxury-car twins, the Vanquish Volante receives all of the same niceties found on last year’s coupe. The 5.2-liter twin-turbocharged V-12 found under the hood of the revised Vanquish twins was developed from the ground up for the new flagships. It spawns a stout 823 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque, with peak torque available all the way from 2000 to 5000 rpm. According to Aston Martin, the V-12 enables the Volante to spring from zero-to-62 mph in 3.4 seconds, and on to a claimed top speed of 214 mph.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through an eight-speed ZF rear-mounted torque-converter transaxle. As with the coupe, the Volante gets an electronically controlled rear differential. Aston Martin claims this adds agility in low- and medium-speed corners and improves control in high-speed situations. While the Bilstein DTX adaptive dampers tucked behind the wheels are technically shared with the coupe, they’ve been specially tuned along with the chassis to account for the convertible’s extra weight.
Sometimes removing the roof of a car makes the convertible look awkward and out of proportion. Not so with the new Vanquish Volante. As with the coupe, the new Volante is a head turner, and even though the grille has grown by more than 13 percent, it maintains an elegant demeanor. The soft top, which Aston calls the K-fold, can be opened in 14 seconds and closed in 16 seconds. It can be operated from the key fob (as long as you’re within about six feet of the car), or at speeds up to 31 mph should you encounter sudden rain.
Inside, the Volante is practically identical to the coupe. It comes exclusively in a two-seat setup and has physical controls for all the important driver functions such as drive modes, stability control, and the active exhaust. When you need them, a pair of 10.3-inch digital displays provide infotainment and gauge cluster duties.
An unspecified (though limited) number of Vanquish Volantes are available to order now. Between the coupe and the Volante, the manufacturer said it will keep Vanquish production below 1000 cars per year. Aston says the first deliveries will take place in the third quarter of 2025. Prices aren’t yet available, but we’re expecting it to start considerably closer to the $500,000 mark than the 2025 coupe’s $432,700 sticker.
